FRIDA is a cheerful crochet mini skirt made for sunny days, beach mornings and festival evenings. The soft cotton texture in half double crochet gives the skirt a light, easy drape, and because it is worked from the top down in continuous rounds, it flows softly around the hips. Every stripe can be a different color — so a forgotten basket of yarn scraps quietly turns into a one-of-a-kind designer piece.

The skirt is worked from the top down. First, the waistband is crocheted sideways in rows of single crochet through the back loop only, creating a stretchy ribbed band. It is joined into a ring, stitches are picked up along the long edge, and the body is worked in rounds of half double crochet with vibrant color stripes. Placed increases give the skirt a gentle A-line shape that drapes beautifully at the hips.

From there, you simply keep crocheting in rounds until the skirt reaches your preferred length. The pattern guides you to a mini length of roughly 12 in / 30 cm from the waistband, but you can extend or shorten it as you wish. A drawstring threaded through the waistband ribs gives a perfect, personal fit.
