The open-front design with three i-cord ties gives it a strong Scandinavian feel, letting whatever shirt or dress you wear underneath peek through. The body is kept simple in basic stockinette stitch. The main focus of this pattern is on the finishing. You will work a clean half-brioche stitch along the front openings and sides, which creates a really crisp vertical line that prevents the edges from rolling inward. The neckline features an applied i-cord that flows directly into the top front ties, so you get a continuous, neat finish across the whole collar.

You will knit the back and two front panels flat, and then seam them together at the shoulders and sides. This modular approach makes it very manageable. I recorded short video tutorials for the specific techniques used in this pattern.

The result is a highly wearable layering piece that looks much more complex to make than it actually is. You just need some quiet time and your favorite fluffy yarn.
